About Course Menu

Tatsumiya, located along the Uji River in the inner parlor of Kyoto, started as a wholesale tea merchant and has been creating matcha dishes for over 80 years. The use of tea elements in banquet dishes, such as the use of tea utensils, is beautiful, and the techniques and knowledge of matcha inherited from the seventh generation owner are being provided with a new sensibility by the eighth generation young owner. We look forward to your visit during your explorations of Uji, where the winds of beautiful nature, culture, and history drift, and await the pleasure of your tasting. Menu

■ "Ujimaru Bento" Menu ■ - Ujimaru Bento filled with over 25 seasonal flavors - Rice - Akadashi (red miso soup) - Mizumono (dessert) ■ Introduction to Uji Bento ■ The story of a wealthy man from Osaka who savored the supreme taste of Uji's eel is preserved as the Ujimaru tale. This "Ujimaru Bento" is named after that story. The bento is filled with more than 25 seasonal flavors including inrou-ni of eel on a refined bamboo skin. It's the most popular menu item in our restaurant. ■ Commitment ■ - Ujimaru Bento The symbol of Ujimaru Bento and the origin of the name is "Ujimaru (eel) Inrou-ni". It is prepared not by wrapping eel around burdock like Yawata roll but by stuffing burdock in eel turned inside out. - Rice We put tencha (original leaves before pounding matcha in a mortar) on the rice ball tied with a bale knot. All are served with homemade pickles. The rice is also shipped directly from the production area in Akita and milled only as much as necessary. - Mizumono The casually served Mizumono. Please enjoy the little mouthful of seasonal sweets, starting with matcha cheesecake.
